Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the closest substitute available for your natural teeth and they preserve the state of your remaining teeth by providing a solid structure in your mouth. They don’t decay and they feel just like your own teeth. They are used to replace missing teeth, strengthen your bite and prevent further bone loss from teeth you may have lost.

The implant procedure has two main parts. The first part is the placement of a titanium base placed beneath the gum which is similar to the root of your tooth. The second part is the porcelain crown which sits above the gum line and will be matched to the color of your natural teeth.

The dental implants are normally done under local anesthetic and sedation if needed for comfort and desired by the patient. The titanium implant is placed in one procedure and will need to heal, then, 3-6 months later, the porcelain crown is attached.

Dental Crowns

Sometimes called a cap, a dental crown is an option for dental patients with damaged, decayed or weakened teeth. Crowns can also be used to cover stained teeth or to secure a bridge or denture. The crown itself is placed as an artificial tooth that sits securely on top of the old tooth. Crowns can be made from porcelain, gold or a combination of other materials. A temporary crown is usually placed while the final crown is being made. It’s normally a few days before the final crown is ready to be cemented to the tooth.

Root Canal

A root canal treatment is a procedure that can save a damaged tooth from being extracted. The dentist will remove the damaged and decaying tissue of your tooth and replace it with biocompatible material. The procedure usually takes two visits as a temporary filling will be placed and a more permanent filling will be placed after the tooth heals. You may need to have a crown placed at a future date depending on the shape of the tooth before the root canal procedure.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are used to cover imperfections in teeth like dark, stained teeth or crooked teeth. They are also used to cover broken or chipped teeth. The veneers are layers made from porcelain but can also be made from other composite materials that are usually cheaper to place. Veneers are fitted over your teeth after they are prepped and if maintained well can last 10 to 15 years.
